Building a hospital is different. A lot
different! If you are involved in a hospital planning, design or
construction project there are things that you simply must know to avoid
some of the pitfalls that sometimes creep into these projects. Mistakes
on hospital construction projects have been shown to create significant
risk to both the construction teams and the occupants of healthcare
buildings. Like all industries understanding where the risks are, and
how to control those risks is the key to developing a successful
construction strategy.
This session will introduce attendees to the unique world of
hospital design and construction with a specific focus on the types of
information that construction documentation should contain to maximize the
a potential for successful project. This primer should help attendees
grasp a better understanding of the nature of healthcare buildings, their
occupants and some of the sensitivities that may be present in the midst of
a renovation, expansion or new build project.
