Presentation: Designing A Better Roof System

Presented by: Ian Moriarty, RRO

Enercorp

Presentation Information:

This is a two-part presentation that focuses on separate building envelope products and technologies that improve performance and value in modern roofing systems:

Roof Boards: Building a Better Roof System. This program introduces the different types of roof boards and explains how this building component increases a roofs strength, durability and resitance to weather events. Different applications for roof boards are addressed, as are keys to properly indentifying, specifying and designing assemblies with roof board products.

Leak Detection: Electronic Detection Technology for Building Enveolpes. A key alternative to flood testing, electronic leak detection has emerged as a way to test membrane assemblies for continuity, both after construction and during service life. This program deals with the science behind ELD methods, the different types of tests available and details how systems can be designed to support ELD hardware requirements.

Learning Points: Upon completion of this presentation Attendees will develop a better understanding of:

- How to differentiate between different types of roof boards available.

- How to appropriately design with and specifiy different roof boards while incorporating applicable standards.

- How roof boards contribute to the total performance of the roofing system.

- The capabilities of electronic leak detection technology versus traditional methods.

- Testing methods including hardware and repaorting considerations.

- Incorproation of ELLD hardware into roof system designs for testing capability.
