2016 Golf Donation Cheque Presentation

On December 16th at St. Matthews House, Brian Dobbins (R), Chapter Chair of Hamilton/Niagara and John Lake (C), Treasurer of Hamilton/Niagara presented a cheque for $7,800.00 to Stephen Leighfield - Executive Director of St. Matthews House in Hamilton.

A total of $15,600.00 was raised this year from our Annual Hamilton/Burlington Society of Architects and CSC Hamilton/Niagara Golf CharityTournament. The other half of the proceeds went to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Burlington.

In the last 4 years the golf tournament has raised approximatley $63,600.00! A Great Effort by all those involved and who attended!

Presentation Information:

Brian Dobbins has worked as an Architectural Solutions Representative with CGC sinc 2012. With a background educationin Architectural Technology, Brian has undertaken various technical sales roles within the Ontario market since 1991 including work in the Elevator, Roll Forming and Building Material Manufacturing/Supply Industries. Brian has conducted numerous presentations to audiences which have included: Architects, Engineers, INterior Designers, Specification Writers, Owners, Project Managers and Technologists. As an active member of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC), Brian holds a Certified Technical Representative's (CTR) designation and is accredited as a LEED Green Associate.

This presentation discusses the Science of Building Acoustics. It evaluates how sound works with the objective of controlling noise within enclosed spaces to improve on the comfort, productivity and experience of the building components. We address Speech Intelligibility, Speech Privacy and Noise Control Factors used to improve on those elements. These factors include Noise Criteria, Noise Reduction Coefficient, Ceiling Attenuation Class, Sound Transmission class, Background Noiseand other factors that could have a positive or negative effect on noise control. This seminar also reviews different ceiling tile substrates as well as partition assemblies that influence noise control within enclosed spaces. The goal is to improve the building enviroment for occupants by designing and selecting the appropriate ceiling and wall materials to suit the intended building application.
