Our Presenter: Kevin Day, B.Tech., CET, LEED AP, Project Principal, Sense Engineering
He is widely respected for his building enclosure expertise and is known for advocating sustainable building practices. His 35 years of experience covers rooftops, complex facades, fenestration, and underground structures. In 2014, Kevin was bestowed the Ontario Building Envelope Council’s Anthony Woods Award (the “Beckie”), symbolic of his contributions to knowledge, value/fairness and sustainable building. Kevin is frequently called upon to lecture and moderate at various industry forums. He focuses his practice on building durability, performance, and energy efficiency; he is a current member of standard committees: CSA S478 Guideline for Durability in Buildings and CSA A440.6 High Exposure Fenestration Installation. In 1999, Kevin started the ULC-S716 series of EIFS standards as committee chairman, residing on the task group and ULC-S700A Thermal Insulation Committee from 1999-2008: he rejoined ULC-S716 in 2021. In 2021, Kevin was appointed to ISO Technical Committee 163 - SC3 - Thermal insulation products.

High-Performance Window Wall for Building Enclosure
Sustainable building enclosures equates to thermally efficient assemblies that provide an exemplary service life. Commonly selected for their modularity and flexibility with a high daylight/floor area ratio, window wall systems have been evolving to provide greater performance capabilities – particularly with the development and implementation of the standard CSA-A440.6, High-Performance Fenestration Installation. This standard focuses on:
· Fenestration products on buildings four or more storeys in height, of all occupancies,
· Effective and durable installation methods in both new and existing buildings,
· Integrated design to meet requirements of performance standards, including NAFS/CSA-S440.1 and
· Systems installed as ribbons, strips, or punched windows fabricated with components typically used in window-wall and storefront systems.
The presenters will cover the scope of the standard and outline requirements for safeguarding fenestration design, procurement, and installation by the Prodemnity’s Bulletin on Non-Drained Exterior Wall Exclusions, dated December 2016.
