Welcome to my House;
An Introduction to Hospital Construction
Virtual Presentation - April 5th, 2022 @ 4pm

Presentation Objectives:

After attending this session, attendees will be able to:
-       Identify some elements of hospitals that separate them from other buildings
-       Identify some of the key standards governing design and construction of hospitals
-       Recognize some unique risks associated with hospital construction
-       Develop a “build it right the first time” mentality with regards to hospital construction projects.

?Presentation Description:

Building a hospital is different. A lot different! If you are involved in a hospital planning, design or construction project there are things that you simply must know to avoid some of the pitfalls that sometimes creep into these projects. Mistakes on hospital construction projects have been shown to create significant risk to both the construction teams and the occupants of healthcare buildings. Like all industries understanding where the risks are, and how to control those risks is the key to developing a successful construction strategy.

This session will introduce attendees to the unique world of hospital design and construction with a specific focus on the types of information that construction documentation should contain to maximize the a potential for successful project. This primer should help attendees grasp a better understanding of the nature of healthcare buildings, their occupants and some of the sensitivities that may be present in the midst of a renovation, expansion or new build project.
